Initio Arts and Design
With its presence in Paris and Budapest, Initio Arts & Design focuses on international projects centred around Central and Eastern European art and ’collectible design’. Founded by Marie Tourre de Robien and Bálint Ferenczy, the gallery opened its exhibition space in 2022 at the Marché Paul Bert Serpette, the world’s largest antiques market. In 2024, Initio Arts & Design published the first reference book dedicated to vintage Eastern European lighting design (Eastern Lights), a field that was largely unknown and that had never been comprehensively documented before. Initio Arts & Design participates at international art fairs, such as PAD (Paris), Ceramic Art Fair (Paris), Budapest Contemporary and Art & Antique (Budapest).
At this year’s fair, alongside works by our represented artists (Szilárd Gáspár, Sándor Kecskeméti, Rebeka Rácz), we will exhibit Anna Mark’s 1988 relief, János Fájó’s large-scale silkscreen triptych, and Victor Vasarely’s early unique collages. Taking center stage at the stand is a remarkably rare sofa set by interior architect Sándor Bedécs (1929–1982), an outstanding example of 1970s Hungarian furniture design.
